Full description of activities

The Public Organization “SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT FUND OF UKRAINE” is an independent, non-profit, voluntary public organization created on the basis of common interests shared by a team of like-minded people for the joint implementation, together with partners, of projects that contribute to the sustainable development of Ukraine. We combine intellectual and financial resources for the future of Ukraine.

The main goal and direction of the Public Organization “SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT FUND OF UKRAINE” is to promote sustainable development in Ukraine, its districts, united territorial communities, and among the population. Our goals also include organizing projects and programs, fundraising, partial or full financing, and assistance in the reconstruction of residential and non-residential facilities in wartime and post-war conditions, as well as projects for the production and agricultural sectors aimed at creating jobs with decent pay on the basis of gender equality in accordance with the current legislation of Ukraine. We also support projects focused on environmental protection and restoration and on ensuring safe living conditions for citizens in accordance with Ukrainian law.

The Public Organization “SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT FUND OF UKRAINE” makes efforts to optimize and decarbonize the energy, industrial, and utility sectors of our country through participation in the modernization of the energy component of enterprises and organizations and through the implementation of energy-saving projects. The generation and energy-saving solutions offered by us and our partners are sustainable, highly efficient, and economically viable.

Decentralized energy is the future of humanity

Power systems worldwide have traditionally been built around centralized generation. We view decentralized energy as a more resilient, flexible, and environmentally responsible model for the future.

Electric power systems around the world have traditionally been built on the principle of centralization. Large power plants running on natural gas, coal, and other conventional fuels affect the environment in different ways, but all of them create systemic risks for ecology and human health.

Renewable energy gives humanity hope for the future. Solar and wind energy do not produce harmful emissions, but they are not constant. Biomass energy, converted into electricity through biogas production or direct combustion, helps balance the needs of businesses and private consumers by complementing the energy of the sun, wind, and land.

The use of fast-response electrical energy storage systems based on capacitive batteries changes the very structure of electrical systems, making them more flexible and efficient.

The combination of rapid energy storage with green power plants reduces dependence on high-voltage networks and the environmental risks associated with them.

Advantages of low-capacity biomass power plants

  1. the possibility of using carbon dioxide produced during power generation for compact urban or suburban farms
  2. operation in trigeneration mode: electricity production together with heat for heating and hot water, and cooling for air-conditioning systems
  3. the possibility of using solid biomass combustion products as fertilizers
  4. the possibility of using the organic component of human waste together with local biomass as fuel
  5. simple and reliable biomass supply logistics using road transport, including fully electric trucks

What the combination of biomass, solar, wind, and storage makes possible

  1. a significant reduction in the cost of electrical networks, as the need for expensive high-voltage lines may decrease two to three times
  2. the ability to reduce dependence on numerous natural gas supply lines for household needs, especially in seismically active areas
  3. the ability to provide cheaper electricity, heat, and cooling energy for households and small and medium-sized businesses
  4. a noticeable reduction in CO2 emissions into the atmosphere
  5. reduced environmental pollution from electromagnetic radiation emitted by high-voltage power lines
  6. an additional increase in the reliability of power supply for people and enterprises

As a key element of this future energy system, we are working on compact trigeneration biomass power plants with biomass decomposition in pyrolysis boilers, which makes it possible to utilize contaminated and partially toxic biomass. A 100 kW unit successfully operated for 13 months at full load, demonstrating the effectiveness of our gas-cleaning developments. The next stage includes 500 kW and 2.5 MW units, which can later become the basis for compact power plants of up to 30 MW of electrical capacity.

The relevance of such solutions is growing in the context of climate change, when protection from heat becomes increasingly important. These trigeneration systems are also highly relevant for African countries and other regions with hot climates.

The Public Organization “SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT FUND OF UKRAINE” works to optimize and decarbonize the energy sector of our country by participating in the modernization of enterprises and organizations and by implementing projects aimed at saving energy resources.

Cogeneration maneuvering capacity as an important element of stable and efficient energy
